Acin, a data standards firm for non-financial risk and controls, has appointed Paul Norris as Head of Product – Asset Management.

Norris will join Acin’s growing Product team and be responsible for the development and delivery of the firm’s offering for the asset management sector. Norris joins from UBS Asset Management, where he was MD and Senior Business Manager for the Investment Solutions business, responsible for the day-to-day running of financial, HR, IT, operational risk, audit and platform logistics as well as being a key contributor and leader within the firm-wide risk management frameworks.

Peter Irvine, Head of Product, says: “The appointment of Paul is another critical step forward for Acin as we expand our offering across the financial services sector. The web of non-financial risk in the asset management industry, like many parts of the financial services sector, has become increasingly complex. Significant opportunities exist for the asset management industry to better understand and manage its non-financial risks, and in turn, improve control and performance. Paul has an in-depth knowledge of the sector and the critical issues it faces and is an experienced practitioner of non-financial risk management. We look forward to him bringing this knowledge to bear for Acin.”

Norris has over 20 years’ experience in the asset management industry and has been intimately involved in the design, implementation and ongoing governance of operational risk frameworks for the last decade. Some of his prior roles at UBS Asset Management have included: Senior Business Manager – Investment Solutions, Chief Administrative Officer – Global Solutions and Head of Equities Logistics.

In his role at Acin, Norris will be responsible for leading on all aspects of the firm’s asset management offering, including product development, client on-boarding, product governance, amongst a number of other functions.

Norris says: “I’m delighted to be joining Acin at such a pivotal moment in its development. Non-financial risk management has become hugely important to the asset management sector and I am confident Acin has a critical role to play – especially with its unique approach to risk and control data standards and ability to connect the sector participants together. I look forward to working with the exceptional Acin team and to contribute to Acin’s continuing growth as well as partnering with asset managers and enabling the benefits of Acin for the AM sector.”

Norris joins a team of respected industry figures, including: Paul Ford (CEO), former Chief Operating Officer of the Ultra High Net Worth business at Barclays Wealth and Credit Suisse EMEA, Peter Irvine (Head of Product), formerly Group Head of Capital & Financial Planning at Credit Suisse, and Rash Phullar (Head of Sales), formerly RBS Head of Strategy Implementation and Global Equities COO and Ian Ewart, formerly Managing Director, Products, Services and Marketing for Coutts and RBS Group Private Banking.
