Kevin O’Donnell is to join Adams Street Partners on 29 August as a partner and global head of business development and investor relations, as well as a member of the firm’s executive committee.

O’Donnell joins Adams Street from BlackRock, where he was a managing director and a member of the management committee for the US and Canada institutional client business.

O’Donnell served in several senior management roles within BlackRock, including head of foundations and endowment and global head of hedge fund distribution. Most recently he held a senior leadership position with the US and Canada pensions business. In these roles he was responsible for managing sizeable teams of marketing and client service executives who helped BlackRock’s institutional clients meet their investment objectives.

Previously, O’Donnell was the managing director and head of business development and consultant relations at Barclays Global Investors (BGI), prior to its acquisition by BlackRock in 2010. O’Donnell commenced his career with State Street Bank and Trust in 1988, where he was based in Boston and Toronto.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kevin to our partnership and to our executive committee,” says managing partner Jeff Diehl. “He is a proven executive who possesses the integrity, intelligence, energy and humility necessary to thrive at Adams Street. His leadership experience from both BlackRock and BGI will be instrumental in helping us serve the private market investment needs of our current and future clients.”

“I am excited to join the Adams Street partnership,” says O’Donnell. “The firm has a pristine reputation, an exceptional investment track record, and a large and loyal institutional client base within the private markets. It is extremely rare to find an investment firm with a 44 year history where no client has ever lost money. I look forward to working with the broader business development and client service teams to help current and prospective clients with their private equity and private credit investment needs.”
