Altis boosts expertise in alternatives

RELATED TOPICS

Manager selection specialist Altis, part of NN Investment Partners (NN IP), is enhancing its research capabilities in alternative investments with the addition of three experienced portfolio managers.

The equity and fixed income teams will be strengthened with expertise in the field of Alternative Fixed Income, (non)-listed Real Estate and Alternatives (Private Equity and Infrastructure).

Altis plays a key role in the fiduciary services of NN IP. As a specialist in the selection and monitoring of external managers, Altis has offices in The Hague (Netherlands) and Zug (Switzerland) and operates completely independently of the advisory practice.

With this solid foundation and Altis’s good track record, NN IP provides its clients with customised solutions and anticipates future developments for institutional asset management. NN IP and Altis see increasing demand from their clients to include illiquid investments in the strategic asset allocation as part of the search for yield. Altis’s expertise enables it to offer clients practical solutions in the complex world of unlisted investments. The strong growth in the number of new fiduciary clients in 2017 confirms that this strategic focus is paying off.

Altis and NN IP are investing in Altis’s leading research platform and expanding the research team with the appointment of three new members in positions that fit Altis’s ambition to expand its leading position in the institutional market:

Robbert Staal (MRE), Senior Portfolio Manager Real Estate: as of 1 March 2018 at Altis in The Hague. He previously worked at Blue Sky Group, CBRE and ING Real Estate and is experienced in listed and non-listed real estate.

Menno Meekel, Senior Portfolio Manager Fixed Income: as of 1 April 2018 at Altis in The Hague. He previously worked at Rabobank and IRIS and has extensive experience in fixed income, manager selection and monitoring.

Arjan van der Loo (CAIA), Senior Portfolio Manager Alternatives: as of 1 May 2018 at Altis in The Hague. He previously worked at MN, Morgan Stanley and KPMG and is an experienced portfolio manager for Private Equity and Infrastructure.

Martin Sanders (pictured), Managing Director at Altis, says: “With these appointments, we broaden and strengthen the proposition for our clients. The Altis team now has 17 members, including four Fixed Income and LDI specialists and six return-seeking assets specialists. This allows our clients to rely on the high level of our future-proof fiduciary services. Focus on the strategic direction of Altis, expertise and customer knowledge also plays an important role in these appointments. I am very much looking forward to working with Robbert, Menno and Arjan. Their expertise and passion strengthens our team.”
