Ambit Capital has appointed Saurabh Mukherjea as head of equities at the managing director level, strengthening its institutional equities business.

Mukherjea will join Ambit after completing his gardening leave, which he is currently serving.

The equity business will now be headed by Mukherjea, leaving Andrew Holland to continue to focus on Ambit’s investment advisory business full time.

Mukherjea and Holland will report directly to Ashok Wadhwa (pictured).

Wadhwa says: "Under Andrew’s leadership, Ambit’s equities business has made a substantial mark in the competitive landscape in the last few years because of its focus on strong research and client satisfaction. Our research has been widely commended, and our execution capabilities have strengthened considerably. With Saurabh at its helm now, Ambit Institutional equities business will undoubtedly add more insights into our research offering, and greatly ramp up our value proposition to our clients."

Mukherjea has over 12 years of experience in the equities business, and joins Ambit from Execution Noble. He was the co-founder of Clear Capital, an equity research firm, in 2003. He sold Clear Capital in 2008 to Execution Noble and moved to India to set up the firm’s institutional equities business.
