Asian equity boutique Stonehorn Global Partners partners with Harrington Cooper

RELATED TOPICS

Stonehorn Global Partners Limited has partnered with fund distribution specialists Harrington Cooper to promote the Stonehorn Asia Equity Fund in Europe.

The appointment supports Stonehorn Global Partner’s continued expansion into Europe; one of the largest asset management markets in the world, which continues to see the importance of Asia as part of its investment strategies.

Stonehorn Global Partners was founded around three years ago by former members of Macquarie Asian Equities team who have previously worked together for over a decade, managing over USD4 billion.

The Stonehorn Asia Equity Fund is an actively managed, high-conviction, Asia ex-Japan, long only equities, portfolio that is conscious of ESG factors. The concentrated, capacity constrained, strategy of the fund is based on holding an average of 30 positions while being unconstrained in terms of sector, country, and market cap.

Stonehorn’ Global Partners’ approach has a value investing foundation, applied to regions with a bias towards so-called new economy sectors that are servicing a rapidly expanding middle class with growing disposable incomes.

Since inception, the Stonehorn Asia Equity Fund has returned 59.98 per cent net of fees to 30 June 2021, beating the MSCI Asia ex-Japan benchmark by an impressive 13.72 per cent.

Sam LeCornu, CEO of Stonehorn Global Partners, comments: “Stonehorn Global Partners’ European expansion is taking flight. Following on from the recent opening of our Swiss representative office lead by Maria Llanes, we are delighted to be appointing Harrington Cooper as our distribution partner in the UK, Ireland, Austria, France, and Germany.”

The appointment of Harrington Cooper will help European professional investors gain a deeper knowledge from the on-the-ground in Asia perspective, and Harrington Cooper will be able to connect professional investors who are looking at increasing their allocation to a value manager like Stonehorn Global Partners.

Maria Llanes, Partner & Head of Investor Relations at Stonehorn Global Partners, comments: “We are very impressed with Harrington Cooper’s professionalism, sophistication and client-focused approach, which has seen them raise over USD6 billion of assets since their inception. With our complementary culture and business acumens, we see Harrington Cooper’s client base being drawn to discover our Stonehorn Asia Equity Fund, which has delivered very strong performance since inception.”

Harry Dickinson, Managing Partner of Harrington Cooper, comments: “We are excited to have partnered with Stonehorn and its experienced Asian equity team. Stonehorn possess all the characteristics we deem critical for success in the asset management business as a highly focused, independent, employee-owned boutique with all motivations aligned to focus on generating positive alpha within the inefficient Asian equity market. Having ESG embedded in the process since inception means it is central to the team’s work. Furthermore, there are very few genuinely capacity conscious managers in this space who are therefore able to exploit inefficiencies across the market cap spectrum.”
