Auerbach Grayson, a New York-based brokerage firm that specialises in international trading for US institutional investors, has hired Alexander Kazan as vice president of Latin American equities.

Kazan, who has over a decade of experience as an emerging market investment strategist, will be responsible for overseeing Auerbach Grayson’s research sales for the firm’s coverage of the Latin America and Caribbean region. His responsibilities will include managing relationships between the firm’s Latin American brokerage partners and its US institutional investor clients.

‘We are delighted to have someone of Alex’s experience oversee operations for our Latin American equities business,’ says Jonathan Auerbach (pictured), managing director and co-founder of Auerbach Grayson. ‘His extensive knowledge of the Latin American region and expertise as an emerging market investment strategist will prove to be a valuable asset as we look to expand our thriving business in this area of the world.’

Kazan served as managing director in the Latin American equity strategy group at Bear Stearns, where he was responsible for monitoring macroeconomic and political trends, as well as generating equity market investment themes throughout Latin America. He was also responsible for marketing the team’s views on Latin America to institutional investors in the US, Europe and Latin America.

Prior to joining Bear Stearns, Kazan served as the director of emerging markets research for a boutique research firm where he advised global macro hedge funds on monetary policy and politics.
