RELATED TOPICS

AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has appointed Simon Baxter as Portfolio Manager in the Buy and Maintain Fixed Income team, effective immediately.
Baxter will be responsible for managing global credit portfolios within AXA IM’s Buy and Maintain team.

Based in London, Baxter will report to Lionel Pernias, Head of Buy and Maintain, and will become integral to the local team of four portfolio managers focusing on global credit strategies and Cashflow Delivery Investing solutions.

Over the past 18 months, AXA IM’s core CDI strategies have grown by GBP7 billion as a result of net new money from new clients with a variety of bespoke mandates of different sizes (GBP100 million to GBP2.5 billion). This successful period for the team has coincided with the development of de-risking solutions for pensions schemes using full flexibility of the global credit markets. AXA IM manages GBP305 billion in Buy and Maintain Credit globally as at the end of June 2019.

Prior to joining AXA IM, Simon worked at Morgan Stanley Investment Managers and Blackrock where he was responsible for managing global credit solutions. Simon will be part of a global team consisting of 15 portfolio managers dedicated to managing portfolios for third party clients located across three regions globally (Paris, London, and Greenwich Connecticut).

Lionel Pernias, Head of Buy and Maintain, London, says: “As pension schemes become more focused on cashflow delivery, we continue to see growth and demand for long term credit strategies. We are planning for the future, this is a strong hire and will support the growth of our B&M strategies. Simon has wide-ranging experience in fixed income strategies, with particular expertise in global IG credit markets and we as a manager are working with clients to build and provide global credit solutions to meet their needs.”

Simon Baxter, commenting on his appointment, says: “I am delighted to join the team here at AXA IM during a successful period for the company as they continue to acquire new institutional business.”
