Aztec Group appoints new Legal Counsel in Jersey

Independent fund and corporate services provider, the Aztec Group has appointed Leanne Tunney as Legal Counsel in the firm’s Jersey office.

In this new role, Tunney will provide comprehensive legal support to the business, advising on all aspects of legal, regulatory and compliance matters, including corporate governance and depositary services. Tunney will also offer ongoing support with new business proposals, in addition to assisting the Group’s corporate services department with ad-hoc legal queries and transaction support.
 
Since qualifying as a Solicitor of England & Wales in 2009, Tunney has built her career within the investment funds industry, working in Jersey, London and Hong Kong before returning back to the Island to join the Aztec Group. She has worked in private practice and in-house as a funds lawyer which has provided her with an expansive understanding of the industry. In her previous role, Tunney headed up the depositary function of a competitor where she was responsible for the management of UK and Luxembourg operations.
 
Tunney completed the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and Legal Practice Course at the University of Exeter. She qualified as a Chartered Company Secretary in December 2016 and completed a Diploma in International Risk, Compliance and Corporate Governance in September 2017.
