BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) has appointed Julien Halfon as Head of Pension Solutions within its Multi Asset, Quantitative & Solutions investment group (MAQS).

Halfon (pictured), who joined on 16 April, reports to Anton Wouters, Head of Solutions & Client Advisory, and is responsible for providing advice and designing dedicated solutions, including quantitative strategies and fiduciary and liability-driven investment (LDI) management, for institutional investors such as pension funds and insurance companies.

Based in London, Halfon is responsible for constructing customised solutions for clients, including balance sheet management, multi asset solutions and overlays, and will work closely with the Institutional Sales and Investment teams. Halfon will build on MAQS’ existing broad range of investment capacities, helping to meet the growing needs of investors seeking innovative and tailor-made solutions. MAQS offers leading ‘quantamental’ management, combining proprietary quantitative expertise with fundamental research capabilities, underpinned by active risk management.

Halfon has extensive financial industry experience, gained within asset management, investment banking and consulting. He joins from Mercer, where he was a Senior Consultant in the Structured Solutions Group. Previous roles include Head of UK & European Coverage at P-Solve, Head of European Solutions at Lazard, Senior Consultant at Hewitt, Bacon & Woodrow and Senior Associate within European Pensions & Insurance Strategy at Goldman Sachs. He began his career as an economist at the French Finance Ministry, before working for the European Commission.

Halfon holds a Masters in Banking, Finance & Insurance and a Masters in International Economics & Finance, both from Paris Dauphine University, an MBA from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MA from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.

Anton Wouters, Head of Solutions & Client Advisory at BNP Paribas Asset Management, says: “We are very pleased to welcome Julien Halfon to BNP Paribas Asset Management. He has considerable experience of developing customised solutions for major European pension fund and insurance investors. As investors increasingly seek solutions that better address their needs, while taking into account protection against the risks of market volatility or meeting specific regulatory constraints, his experience will add to our existing capabilities as we further expand our solutions business.”
