Bob Contri named head of Deloitte’s Financial Services Industry Group

RELATED TOPICS

Deloitte has appointed Bob Contri as leader of its financial services industry group in the United States. Contri currently serves as Deloitte’s leader to the banking and securities sector.

Contri succeeds Jim Reichbach, who held the role for the last three years. Reichbach will now serve as senior leader to several of Deloitte’s most important financial services clients and as leader of Deloitte’s global banking and securities practice.

“We are in a unique time, as the strategies that financial institutions undertake today will determine who the leaders are tomorrow,” says Contri. “Whether it is regulatory reform, sweeping changes to the mortgage industry or the call for better technology platforms, financial institutions have a lot of work to do in the near-term. And, when it comes to growth, one of the biggest challenges is how to differentiate your financial institution from the competition through service and product innovation.”

Deloitte’s financial services industry group is comprised of four key sectors — banking and securities, insurance, private equity, hedge funds & mutual funds, and real estate — each with its own national sector leader. In his new role, Contri is responsible for providing industry experience to Deloitte client teams across the financial services spectrum, as well as setting overall go-to market strategy and strategic initiatives, including helping clients respond to the Dodd-Frank Act’s operational and business implications.

“This is a critical role for Deloitte as the financial services industry group is among the largest in our organisation, as well as the fastest-growing,” says Karen Mazer, vice chairman and the managing principal of US industries, Deloitte LLP. “I want to thank Jim for his outstanding leadership over the past several years in this role — especially in the face of unprecedented industry turmoil. I have every confidence that Bob will do a great job advancing this practice to yet another level.”

Contri’s career at Deloitte spans more than 20 years and includes serving in a variety of leadership and strategic client service roles throughout the financial services group, both in the U.S. and at a global level.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania and a master’s degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey.
