Buck launches investment governance solution

RELATED TOPICS

Buck, a consulting, technology, and administration services firm specialising in pensions and employee benefits, has launched a new investment governance solution that aims to quickly get trustees ‘endgame ready’, enabling them to focus their time on what is most important to their pension schemes.

Legislative requirements related to investment decisions are rapidly evolving: new obligations for more than 5,000 DB schemes must be met by 10 December 2019, with further requirements coming in October 2020 and 2021. Buck’s investment governance solution establishes a structure and process to manage trustee governance, decision-making, and implementation of their investment strategy, minimising the burden on trustees without them losing control of their strategy.

As schemes become more mature, and as the result of The Pensions Regulator taking a ‘clearer, quicker, and tougher’ approach in both the coming period and in the years ahead, Buck’s solution helps trustees focus, prioritise, and act. Specifically, it offers trustees:

• A wider approach to endgame investing,
• A governance model that captures how a trustee body structure will evolve over time,
• A responsive investment strategy that can flex with the cashflow demand of a maturing scheme, and
• The removal of day-to-day cashflow operational risk via the investment structure itself.

Celene Lee (pictured), Principal and Senior Investment Consultant at Buck, says: “The industry needs an investment solution which is nimble and deals not only with investment outcomes, but also the changing regulatory and economic landscape. As we move further into a maturing DB pensions market, with many schemes getting closer to their endgame, we are passionate about ensuring our clients are ready for the next decade and beyond.”

David Piltz, UK Managing Director at Buck, adds:
“At Buck, we pride ourselves on leading the way, listening to the needs of our clients, and delivering strong solutions that work specifically for them at the time they need them. Through Buck’s investment governance solution, our clients are able to take advantage of market opportunities, backed by a confident strategy and bold investment decisions, ensuring all schemes are not only Regulator compliant, but proactively prepared for the future.”
