Net assets of the Canadian mutual fund industry will be between CAD607.4bn and CAD612.4bn in March, up approximately 2.16 per cent from February’s total of CAD597bn, according to the Investment Funds Institute of Canada.

Net sales of mutual funds for the month of March are estimated to be between CAD1.12bn and CAD1.62bn.

“Canadians invested roughly CAD12bn in long term funds over the first quarter of 2010 with over CAD5bn of the total coming from new fund investment rather than rebalancing activity,” says Pat Dunwoody, vice president of member services and communications with IFIC. “In addition, existing assets under management saw an increase nearing two per cent due to improved market performance in March.”
