Cantor Fitzgerald expands leveraged finance team

Global financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald has added five people to its leveraged finance high yield and distressed team in Europe.

Global financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald has added five people to its leveraged finance high yield and distressed team in Europe.

James Franz has joined as managing director and head of European high yield and distressed business. Prior to Cantor, he was the senior salesperson at Citigroup in London responsible for high yield and distressed sales to European investors since 2000. He was previously at Schroders in New York.

Jack Czarnota joins Cantor as managing director from Citigroup in London, where he was a director and senior high yield salesperson from 2000 to 2008. Prior to Citigroup, he was at ING Barings as a high yield salesperson and Paribas in fixed income research, principal trading group and sales. He began his career at JP Morgan Chase in corporate credit research.

Stuart Levett joins as managing director from the Credit Suisse distressed trading group in London. Since 2003, Levett was the senior originator of par and distressed assets as a senior salesperson covering banks, CLO investors and specialist loan funds. He began there in 2000 with the acquisition of DLJ where he worked as a senior leveraged finance salesperson covering the UK, Japan and Europe.

Imran Khan joins Cantor Fitzgerald from Goldman Sachs where he was most recently a buy-side trader in the European special situations group. He joined the analyst class of 2005 at Goldman Sachs, after graduating from the LSE, University of London with an undergraduate honours degree in Banking & Finance, and was promoted to associate in 2008.

Robert Hartman joins with over 28 years of experience in non-investment grade credit markets globally and has spent the last 21 years based in London. Prior to joining Cantor, he was a partner and leveraged credit portfolio manager at Picus Capital Management in Mayfair. Before that he was head of high yield sales and trading at WestLB Panmure where he also managed a proprietary book of leveraged finance assets. In 1997 he was one of the founders of the leveraged finance group at DLJ in London.

Their skills, experience and relationships add to Cantor’s unique positioning to capture market share in the European high yield and distressed bond and loan markets in Europe," says Marty Teevan, senior managing director and global head of leveraged finance sales, trading and research.

Cantor Fitzgerald added nearly 100 sales and trading professionals in 2008 and another 125 new strategic hires since the first of this year to its debt capital markets group and is continuing to grow its fixed income, equity and investment banking businesses.
