Offshore law firm Carey Olsen Bermuda has appointed Mary Ward as a partner in its corporate practice. Ward will join Carey Olsen Bermuda after 15 years at Conyers Dill & Pearman.

Prior to her arrival in Bermuda, Ward worked for international law firms Linklaters in New York and Slaughter and May in London. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1994 and the Bermuda Bar in 2004.

Ward advises on all aspects of commercial and corporate law, with extensive experience in securities law, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring of private and public companies and private equity. Her practice also encompasses advising on insurance matters, including incorporation of commercial insurers and equity and debt financings of insurers and insurance groups, as well as private placements, listed debt offerings and IPOs.

She is recognised as an expert in her field by both Chambers and Legal 500 with market sources recognising her considerable experience in securities and insurance work.

Michael Hanson, managing partner of Carey Olsen Bermuda, said: “We are delighted to have Mary join us. From the outset, our aim has been to build a market leading full-service offering and Mary will play a key role in that strategy.

“She brings with her a tremendous reputation and is considered one of Bermuda’s most technically accomplished corporate lawyers.”

Ward will begin her new position in June 2018 after fulfilling her contractual obligations at Conyers Dill & Pearman.
