Clearbrook Global Advisors, a privately held, independent investment management firm, has appointed Thomas E Deegan as managing director.

Deegan will be responsible for overseeing the relationships and operational management for the firm’s institutional clients as well as business development for Clearbrook’s discretionary business.

Deegan will be based in the firm’s New York headquarters and report to Elliott Wislar, chief executive officer of Clearbrook.

Deegan brings a wealth of experience in pension fund management to Clearbrook, joining the firm from the Stamford Policemen’s Pension Fund where he was the independent trustee of the board and head of the investment committee responsible for the investment selection and management of the USD190million pension fund.  While at the Stamford Policemen’s Pension Fund, he introduced and implemented a USD50million alternative Investment platform which included hedge funds, private equity and real estate portfolios.

”We are excited to have Tom join our firm at a time where institutions and organisations are looking for more strategic advisors and consultants to partner with in order to implement investment solutions that meet their goals and objectives while generating positive investment results,” says Wislar. “At Clearbrook, we have a long history of identifying emerging talent and exploiting investment opportunities that ultimately help our clients achieve their investment goals.”

“Clearbrook has a reputation of being a pioneer in the innovation of investment solutions, collaborating with managers, and implementing customised investment strategies to achieve the best returns for their clients,” says Deegan.  “I am extremely pleased to be part of a great organisation that has a vision for how investment advisory firms can collaborate and work with their clients in new ways that puts the interests of their institutions first.”

Prior to joining Stamford Policemen’s Pension Fund, Deegan was a founding partner, chief operating officer and chief information officer at GlobeOp Financial Services, a provider of outsourced middle- and back-office, and fund administration services for the hedge fund community from 2000 to 2004. While at GlobeOp he managed client operations, derivative processing, and profit-loss accounting globally.
