Edison appoints head of Australasia

RELATED TOPICS

Edison, an investment research and advisory company, has appointed Dean Richardson as director and head of Australasia in its Sydney office.

Richardson (pictured) brings more than 25 years of commercial experience in capital markets, public companies and investor relations.

Richardson’s recent experience has been in listed companies, where he was the main point of contact for the investment communities and markets in Australasia and the international investment community. His focus was on developing investor relations strategies and relationships with both the buy and sell side, as well as having responsibility for relations with key stakeholders including governments, regional councils and industry bodies.

Richardson was corporate secretary and vice president of investor relations at Toronto-listed Marengo Mining, where he was instrumental in negotiations with financial investors, government ministries and mining departments. Prior to this he held senior investor relations positions at Minemakers, Baraka Petroleum and Hardman Resources.

He started his career in investment banking and spent more than 10 years at Barclays Bank and ABN AMRO where he focused on trading in equities, derivatives, commodities, metals, and capital and foreign currencies.

Richardson says: “I am delighted to join the team at Edison as regulatory changes sweeping the investment research industry are creating significant opportunities for the firm. I look forward to building on my comprehensive capital markets experience and relationships with both the buy and sell side, as well as listed companies in the region, to further grow Edison’s offering in Australasia and help fill the gap in the provision of equity research, which is being created as bulge-bracket banks retrench further following MiFID II.

“As market leader, providing in-depth equity research and IR services of unparalleled quality, Edison is well placed to benefit from these fundamental industry changes and I look forward to leading the team here in Australia and New Zealand during these exciting times.”

Fraser Thorne, CEO of Edison, UK and RoW, says: “I am delighted to welcome Dean to the growing Edison team. His relationships with key players in the AsiaPac and North American capital markets will be of huge benefit to the whole firm.

“Dean’s considerable experience will enable Edison to grow its presence locally while at the same time expand its global footprint and broaden its position for high-quality equities research coverage and associated IR services, supporting companies looking to access new pools of capital.”
