Elian has strengthened its compliance capabilities with the appointment of Kristian Walton as group risk and compliance director.

Walton will take responsibility for leading the risk, compliance, internal audit, business controls and file review teams across Elian’s 15 international jurisdictions and multiple service lines. Leading a 26 strong team, he will oversee the delivery of a proactive and robust risk and compliance approach, ensuring the company continues to achieve the highest regulatory standards.

Walton, who has over 20 years’ industry experience, joined Elian as an associate director in the risk and compliance team in 2014. Prior to this, he worked in various roles for NatWest, The Royal Bank of Scotland Group and Coutts and Co in London and Jersey. Before joining Elian, he was a director of risk and business management for Coutts and Co in Jersey.

Elian CEO, Paul Willing, says: ‘Elian maintains the highest international standards of risk, compliance and regulation. Kristian’s breadth of industry experience, and his robust understanding of the regulatory landscape, will help us remain at the forefront of international compliance developments.’

‘Innovation is at the heart of Elian’s values, and I am looking forward to evolving and enhancing Elian’s global risk and compliance capabilities,’ adds Walton.

A Member of the Jersey Compliance Officers Association, Walton is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and a Chartered Wealth Manager. He also has a LLB Bachelor of Law (Hons) in Business Law from the London Metropolitan University.
