Legg Mason has appointed Eric Simonnet as Sales Manager Benelux. Simonnet will be in charge of sales and distribution of funds with third party distributors, notably financial intermediaries, asset managers, funds of funds, banks and high end distribution platforms in Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

He will be responsible for strengthening the presence of Legg Mason with this sophisticated clientele and for promoting its expertise in active asset management.

Simonnet says: “I am very happy to join the Legg Mason team. Legg Mason’s unique multi-boutique model offers clients a targeted range of highly performing and innovative products.  The Benelux region offers many opportunities with a very diverse client base and Legg Mason has a real card to play.”

Vincent Passa, Head of Sales, France and Benelux adds: “I am delighted to welcome Eric to our team.  We are continuing our development in the region because we are convinced that our model is pertinent and well suited for these dynamic markets.  Eric’s arrival reflects our strong ambitions and we plan to continue strengthening our presence in Continental Europe.”

Amongst the funds from the Dublin domiciled range “Legg Mason Global Funds Plc” which collected the best since the beginning of the year are the Legg Mason Capital Management Value Fund (managed by Bill Miller on US equities), Legg Mason Western Asset Asian Opportunities Fund (Asian debt in local currency), or Legg Mason Royce Smaller Companies Fund (US small caps with a contrarian value style).
