Guus Warringa has joined the Grant & Eisenhofer where he will work with the firm's institutional investor clients.
During his seven year tenure as General Counsel of Netherland's based APG Group (one of the world's leading institutional investors with more than Euro 417 billion of pension funds' assets), Warringa served as a leading-voice for institutional investors and was instrumental in campaigning against the adverse consequences for pension funds of the financial transaction tax and the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) on behalf the European pension fund sector. In 2011, Warringa was named by Financial News as one of the most influential figures in European capital markets.
Before joining APG, Warringa served as General Counsel of the Dutch Exchange (Euronext Amsterdam) and held various international positions within the global NYSE Euronext group. Prior to that, he was General Counsel of the international investment firm AOT N.V.
G&E co-founders and managing directors Jay Eisenhofer and Stuart Grant say: "Guus is a tremendous addition to G&E. His extensive experience and vigorous activism on behalf of institutional investors will be an incredible asset to our client base, and we're pleased to have an advocate of Guus's caliber join the Firm."
"Institutional investors have become much more vocal and active over the past several years," says Warringa. "Joining G&E provides me with the opportunities to further support that process and further strengthen the investors' possibilities."
Warringa, who started his career in private practice as a M&A lawyer, holds a Law degree from the University of Leiden and a Masters in Law (LLM) from Cambridge University, Magdalene College.
