Franklin Templeton Investments has appointed Martyn Gilbey as the firm’s new UK country head.

Effective 1 August 2017, Gilbey (pictured) will be based at Franklin Templeton’s London offices and he will be leading the local team to further develop the firm’s retail and institutional businesses in the UK and offshore territories.

He will report to Vivek Kudva, managing director, EMEA and India at Franklin Templeton Investments.

Gilbey brings significant experience gained from senior distribution roles in UK and Asian markets as well as an established track-record of managing and growing institutional, wholesale and captive businesses.

He joins Franklin Templeton Investments from Aberdeen Asset Management where he was most recently head of UK distribution, leading a team of 40 and supporting approximately USD200 billion of client assets, invested across all major asset classes.

Previously he worked for Scottish Widows Investment Partnership where he was head of wholesale distribution. Prior to that, he worked for Mirae Asset Global Investment, where he held the position of global chief marketing officer, based in Hong Kong and then London.

Kudva says: “I am delighted that Martyn is joining Franklin Templeton. With over 24 years of financial services experience, 18 of which have been in investment management specifically, Martyn brings a wealth of expertise to grow our retail and institutional presence. I look forward to welcoming Martyn on board and working closely with him on further expanding our business in the UK market.”
