GIB Asset Management appoints Head of Fixed Income

RELATED TOPICS

GIB Asset Management (GIB AM) has appointed Samantha Lamb as Head of Fixed Income, as the firm continues to build its investment capabilities to help scale capital in support of sustainable development. Lamb will take up her new role on 18 October.

At GIB Asset Management, Lamb will work to develop the firm’s fixed income capability beyond existing Emerging Market credit and indexation capabilities. Samantha’s investment philosophy that she brings to the firm is that a sustainable fixed income investment approach must focus on the longer term and that it is critical to work with all industries, bringing relevant stakeholders together to improve the world for future generations. This involves investing in companies that are progressing their sustainability journey or who are helping others to progress theirs, and, crucially, focusing on where those businesses are going, rather than where they have come from.

Lamb joins from abrdn, where she was Head of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), Fixed Income. Part of a team responsible for GBP180 billion of AUM, Samantha led the integration of ESG considerations into investment decisions and drove ESG innovation through, for example, launching one of the first SRI Corporate Bond funds. Samantha previously held the position of Investment Director, Fixed Income at Standard Life Aberdeen and over her more than 15 years of experience, has had roles at Aegon Asset Management, JP Morgan and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. Samantha holds a BA in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Leeds and is a CFA Charterholder.

Katherine Garrett-Cox, CEO of GIB Asset Management, says: “GIB Asset Management is committed to offering our clients solutions that enable them to benefit from the transition underway to a more sustainable economic model.  With Samantha joining the team to develop our Fixed Income capability, we aim to provide innovative sustainably-focused solutions across global fixed income markets”.

Lamb says: “It’s a rare and exciting opportunity to join a team who are through and through passionate about sustainable investing, focused on delivering compelling returns for clients, whilst being deeply thoughtful about the mark we leave. Unlike most investment processes that have bolted sustainability on to their research and portfolio construction processes, this is a truly unique prospect to build on an investment process that has always put sustainability at the heart of every investment decision.”
