GoldenTree Asset Management, an investment firm that manages alternative and traditional asset strategies for sophisticated institutional and high net-worth investors, has appointed James Clarke as managing director – business development.

Clarke is based at GoldenTree’s New York City headquarters and will report to Thomas Humphrey, partner and head of business development.

Prior to joining GoldenTree, Clarke was a senior vice president in business development for Paulson and Co., where he was responsible for covering large institutional investors including public and corporate pensions, and foundations and endowments in the US, Canada and Australia.

“We are delighted to announce that James Clarke has decided to join GoldenTree,” says Humphrey. “James has a stellar reputation in asset management, and is highly regarded by institutional investors. My partners and I are excited about the opportunity to work with James and benefit from his years of experience as a trusted advisor.”

Previously, Clarke spent 12 years with PIMCO as a senior vice president and head of public plan new business development. While at PIMCO he was integral to the firm’s rapid expansion with public pension plans and consultant relationships.
