Goldman Sachs Asset Management has appointed Jen Sisson as head of stewardship, EMEA. Sisson, who will be based in London, will report to Catherine Winner, global head of stewardship. She will join the firm in June 2021.

Fadi Abuali, CEO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management International, says: “We are delighted to welcome Jen as we continue to strengthen our EMEA team in strategic areas such as ESG. Jen’s expertise will be of great benefit to our clients as we continue our pioneering engagement efforts on critical topics such as climate transition, diversity and inclusive growth.”

Catherine Winner, global head of stewardship, says: “Jen has extensive experience in company engagement and will be a valuable addition to our stewardship team as we continue to work with companies in pursuit of a more sustainable and equitable investment environment. I look forward to welcoming her to the business.”

The GSAM global stewardship team drives the business’s approach to stewardship on behalf of its clients globally. The stewardship team serves as a dedicated resource to the company’s investment teams and oversees several areas including proxy voting, direct engagement with company management on environmental, social and governance issues, and industry leadership to collaborate, share insights and build best practices across the stewardship space. Sisson will be responsible for GSAM’s stewardship efforts across EMEA.

Sisson joins GSAM from the UK Financial Reporting Council (FRC), where she worked for four years, most recently as deputy director of stakeholder engagement and corporate affairs, following a year as chief of staff. She has been responsible for coordinating the FRC’s outreach with the global investment community, listed company leadership teams and board members across all areas of the regulator’s scope. Jen led policy outreach on ESG, audit and reporting matters including the creation of the 2020 UK Stewardship Code and the 2018 UK Corporate Governance Code. Prior to working at the FRC, Jen was part of PwC’s global investor engagement team, where she was responsible for research and engagement with the investment community on a broad range of accounting, reporting, regulatory, governance and ESG issues. She also acted as part of the secretariat for the Corporate Reporting Users Forum (CRUF).
