Great Lakes Advisors, a specialist in socially responsible and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) integration investing, has appointed Daniel P Nielsen (pictured) as a Managing Director.

“We are excited to welcome Dan to the Great Lakes Advisors team and are confident that he will add great value to our clients,” says Thomas R Kiley, Chief Executive Officer, Great Lakes Advisors. “Dan will work with clients providing access to our sustainable/responsible strategies that favor companies with better environmental, social, and governance performance; thematic strategies including clean energy and green portfolios; and portfolios that incorporate faith-based values.”

“Great Lakes Advisors has long been recognised as a leader in socially responsible investing,” says Nielsen. “I am impressed by the way they engage with clients to understand their beliefs and create customised investment solutions tailored to their values and goals. With more than 25 years of experience in socially responsible investing and an innovative approach to sustainable and responsible strategies, Great Lakes Advisors offers a unique combination of products and services that differentiates it from other firms.”

Nielsen comes to Great Lakes Advisors from Christian Brothers Investment Services (CBIS), where he led the Catholic Responsible Investing practice. In this role, he was responsible for managing portfolio screening, proxy voting, and corporate engagement strategies of the firm and for working with participants and prospects to evaluate strategies and performance.

Prior to CBIS, Nielsen was the Manager of Socially Responsible Investing at the General Board of Pension and Health Benefits of the United Methodist Church where he addressed environmental, governance, and human rights issues with portfolio companies. Nielsen holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a B.A. with honors from the University of Maryland.
