HSBC Securities Services (HSS), part of HSBC’s Global Banking and Markets business, has appointed Rafael Moral Santiago as Head of Securities Services, Europe. Santiago will be responsible for the HSS business across Europe and leading its growth agenda.
Santiago will join HSBC from Deutsche Bank, where he held a number of roles across its transaction banking unit and its strategy function. His most recent role was Global Head of Investor Services, where he led Deutsche Bank's custody and clearing, fund services and agency securities lending businesses, with primary accountability for strategy, global P&L, client relationships and risk management. Prior to this role, he established and led Deutsche Bank’s transaction banking strategy and business development function globally. Santiago spent 13 years at Deutsche Bank, based in Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas.
Before joining Deutsche Bank, Santiago gained business leadership experience in the software industry and spent his early career at McKinsey and Company.
Santiago, who joins HSBC on 1 December, 2015, will report to Cian Burke, Global Head of Securities Services. He will be based in London and will also form part of HSBC’s Securities Services executive committee.
