HSBC Asset Management has expanded its direct lending team with the appointment of Tom Boden as an Associate Director. Boden joined the firm on 4 May and will be based in London.
Boden has over 10 years’ industry experience. Prior to joining HSBC Asset Management, he was an Associate Director at Permira Debt Managers where he worked for seven years in their direct lending team. He trained at KPMG where he qualified as a chartered accountant.

Earlier this year, HSBC Asset Management announced the launch of its direct lending capability as part of the firm’s ambition to grow its alternative investments platform. The new capability will invest in partnership with HSBC UK Bank, a leading originator of senior secured loans to middle market private equity-backed companies in the UK.
In 2020, HSBC Asset Management set out its strategy to re-position the business as a core solutions and specialist emerging markets, Asia and alternatives focused asset manager, with client centricity, investment excellence and sustainable investing as key enablers. HSBC Asset Management currently manages USD45 billion in alternatives strategies.
