ICR makes senior hires

RELATED TOPICS

ICR, a financial communications consulting firm specialising in investor relations and corporate communications, has made several new hires.

The company says the additions are in response to the increase in new business activity it has experienced recently.

In the investor relations practice, Sherry Bertner, managing director for medical technology and pharmaceutical services, joined ICR in September with 12 years of experience as a senior health care equity research analyst on the buy-side, both with long only institutions and long/short hedge funds.

Jennifer Gordon, managing director for energy, joined ICR in September with 15 years of experience as an analyst, institutional salesperson and trader in the energy sector. She had most recently been a director and senior trading analyst at Deutsche Bank covering energy equities and commodities.

Evelyn Infurna, managing director for real estates and Reits, joined ICR in June with nine years of experience on the buy-side at both a dedicated Reit long-only firm followed by five years managing Reit and real estate securities portfolios at several hedge funds.

Donald Ellis, managing director for bio pharmaceuticals, joined ICR in early 2009 with 15 years of senior-level Wall Street experience covering specialty pharmaceuticals as a partner and senior equities research analyst at Thomas Weisel Partners and managing director and senior pharmaceutical analyst with Robertson Stephens and Montgomery Securities.

Michael Tieu, managing director for Asia, joined ICR in January with eight years of investment banking experience and more than ten years of management experience. He is an adviser to a wide network of Chinese senior executives, as well as US fund managers and industry professionals.

In the corporate communications practice, Bo Park, managing director for corporate communications, joined ICR in September to focus on corporate communications practice and corporate reputation. She previously held senior positions at global PR agencies and Fortune 500 companies, providing services related to corporate communications; media relations; crisis and issues management; internal communications and brand marketing.

In the restructuring practice, John Sorensen, chief financial officer and managing director for bankruptcy and restructuring communications, joined ICR in early 2009 with 25 years of financial and operating experience with both private equity and public companies. He will oversee the company’s corporate services team, including finance, IR and HR, and assist the senior managing partners with the day-to-day operation of the business. He will also add depth to ICR’s financial crisis communication advisory services to clients in the area of bankruptcy and restructuring.

Tom Ryan and Chad Jacobs, co-chief executives of ICR, said: “We are in a period where the strongest brands in our industry will get stronger by gaining market share and investing in the future and that’s exactly what we’ve done thus far in 2009. We recognise our greatest asset is the caliber of people we attract and these recent additions are of exceptionally high quality, allowing ICR to broaden its capabilities into new industry sectors. We are excited to diversify and expand our practice groups, continually finding new ways to bring our value to our clients.”
