ING Investment Management, Americas, has hired Jonathan Golub in the newly created position of Chief Market Strategist.

In this new role, Golub will provide market and economic insights, as well as investment ideas to the company’s institutional and financial advisor clients. He also will be part of the asset allocation team.

‘Jonathan has developed a strong reputation for his work analyzing markets and for presenting valuable investment perspectives to institutional clients and financial advisors,’ says Rob Leary, Chairman and CEO, ING Investment Management, Americas. ‘His insights have benefited those looking to create and manage short- and long-term investment portfolios for their clients. Given the undulating and unpredictable market environment we’re operating in, Jonathan will make it easier for our institutional clients and financial advisors to understand the complexities of the global marketplace.’

Golub is a veteran investment strategist, who has written and spoken extensively about the markets and the economy. He was Chief Investment Strategist at Bear Stearns & Co, where he helped set asset allocation policy. From 2001 to 2007, he was with JP Morgan Asset Management where he served as US Equity Strategist and co-head of US equity client portfolio management.

‘This is an exceptional time to join ING,’ he says. ‘I’ve known my colleagues on ING’s investment teams for many years and have a great deal of respect for them professionally and personally. Additionally, ING’s breadth of product and global platform make this a fantastic opportunity. I look forward to helping ING’s clients navigate through today’s turbulent markets.’

Golub will be part of ING’s Investment Solutions Group, reporting to Paul Zemksy, Head of Asset Allocation and Multi-Manager Investments, ING Investment Management, Americas. He will work with this group in developing the firm’s asset allocation views and strategy. Golub, who is a CFA charter holder, began his financial industry career in 1986. He holds a BA in Economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
