Invesco GQE adds to team

RELATED TOPICS

Invesco has added three investment professionals to its Global Quantitative Equity (GQE) research team. The GQE research team is responsible for the ongoing enhancement and monitoring of our global and regional stock selection models.

"We are seeing systematic management of assets returning to favor again. Many of our strategies have exceeded performance expectations in the recent challenging markets and value added has become even more important in the current low-return environment," says Bernhard Langer, chief investment officer of GQE. "I’m pleased to add these three qualified analysts to our team."

Charlie Ko, Quantitative Research Analyst will join the GQE research team on May 15, 2012. He brings more than 14 years of investment management experience to the position. Most recently he served as Director and Senior Portfolio Manager at Batterymarch Financial Management, where he spent the last 11 years with responsibilities that included portfolio management, research and quantitative modelling. He earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Yale University. He is a CFA charterholder.

Michael Abata, Quantitative Research Analyst, joined the research team from State Street Global Markets in October 2011. Mike brings more than 20 years of quantitative equity experience to the position. Eleven of those 20 years were spent at Putnam Investment Management, where he was a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager with responsibilities for developing multi-factor models and managing large cap portfolios. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Binghamton University and is a CFA charterholder.

Eric Cheng, Quantitative Research Analyst, joined the research team in December 2011 from Markit, where he spent three years as an equity analyst responsible for conducting fundamental and quantitative analysis on U.S. equities. Eric holds a B.A. in International Economics from Guangdong University of Business Studies, a M.A. in Financial Economics from the University at Buffalo, SUNY, and has passed all CFA exams.
Each of these analysts will report to Andrew Waisburd, PhD, Director of Research.

Invesco’s Global Quantitative Equity team, with locations in Boston, New York, Frankfurt, Tokyo and Melbourne, consists of more than 40 investment professionals and manages approximately $19 billion on behalf of clients globally. It is responsible for a platform of risk-controlled products invested in country, regional and global mandates, across market capitalizations and styles. The team’s flagship product, U.S. Quantitative Core, recently celebrated its 28th anniversary.

The CFA designation is globally recognized and attests to a charterholder’s success in a rigorous and comprehensive study program in the field of investment management and research analysis.
