Jeff Smith to lead Janney Montgomery Scott’s DC office

RELATED TOPICS

Janney Montgomery Scott has hired Jeff Smith as senior vice president and branch manager of the firm’s Washington, DC office.

With over 20 years of industry experience, Smith will be tasked to lead the firm’s expansion in the Capital region. Smith will report directly to regional manager James Dornan.

“Jeff is a highly regarded and proven leader, and we’re looking to his experience and insight as we continue to build within our existing geographic footprint,” says Jerry Lombard, president of Janney’s private client group. “The DC-metro area is a logical expansion point for Janney right now, and we’re excited to have Jeff on-board to lead those initiatives.”

Smith began his career in the financial services industry in 1990 as a financial adviser. Moving quickly into a management role, by 2004, he had joined Legg Mason as the director of sales for the central division, where, in addition to several divisional roles, he managed its Tyson’s Corner office. Following the acquisition of Legg Mason by Citi Smith Barney, Smith was tasked with merging the Legg Mason office with the Smith Barney office in Alexandria, Virginia, and later, overseeing both the legacy Smith Barney/Legg Mason office and the Morgan Stanley office, following the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney union.
