Legal & General Investment Management has announced the appointment of Hugh Cutler as head of distribution.

Cutler (pictured) will have responsibility for developing LGIM’s new business strategy both in the UK and overseas.

Cutler joins LGIM from Barclays Global Investors where he was co-head of the global strategic solutions group. During his 11 years at BGI, Cutler was variously responsible for strategic accounts, defined contributions client service and established the global strategic solutions group.

Prior to this Cutler worked with Towers Perrin as an actuarial associate where he advised pension schemes and companies on all aspects of pensions.

Mike Craston, managing director of institutional business for LGIM, says: ‘Hugh brings a set of skills that are both highly timely and extremely valuable in further developing our range of products, client solutions and presence in new markets.’

Cutler says: ‘I’m delighted to join LGIM at such an exciting point. In these challenging times LGIM is ideally positioned to serve its clients well, and I look forward to contributing to its future development.’
