The Maples Group has made two senior appointments – Clare Kennedy joins as the Group’s law firm Global Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Owen Brookman joins as Group General Counsel.

The strategic hires follow a period of significant growth across the global organisation, including the opening of a number of important new offices over the past five years.

In the newly created position of Global Chief Operating Officer for the law firm, Kennedy’s remit will be to further develop the law firm’s business services functions and enhance operational capabilities. A chartered accountant with over 25 years’ experience working in a number of global professional services organisations, Kennedy brings extensive experience, having previously served as a Chief Operating Officer and as a Global Chief Financial Officer for two large global law firms. With significant experience in advising senior boards and leadership teams, Kennedy will work closely with Global Managing Partner, Jonathan Green and the Group’s Global Management Committee, as well as the wider global partnership.

Brookman, a highly experienced international lawyer and most recently General Counsel at a large accountancy firm, brings 30 years’ professional experience across private practice and leading a high performing in-house legal function in navigating professional and regulatory matters. Brookman will lead the Group’s Office of General Counsel and advise the Global Management Committee and several of the Group’s boards on a range of in-house matters.

Green says: “This is an exciting time for the Maples Group and we are delighted to have both Clare and Owen on board who, in their new roles, will support us in guiding the Group through its next ambitious chapter.”

Kennedy adds: “The legal industry is continuously evolving. With new and emerging technology, it is important that organisations continually evolve and develop. I look forward to working with the Maples Group’s international law firm to further develop the business, improve operational efficiency and advance its client delivery capabilities worldwide.”

Brookman says: “I am delighted to join the thriving Maples Group where I will be working alongside a talented team of highly experienced lawyers and other professionals. I look forward to leading the Office of General Counsel to make the most of the exciting opportunities for the Group.”
