Financial services firm Merriman Curhan Ford Group has announced that John Chambers, head of healthcare investment banking, has assumed the role as head of its investment banking group.

Chambers succeeds Brock Ganeles as head of investment banking. Ganeles was recently promoted to president of the brokerage division at Merriman.

‘Since John joined our firm last fall, he has rebuilt our healthcare banking practice and helped establish us as a premier platform for emerging-growth life science companies,’ says Jon Merriman, chief executive of Merriman Curhan Ford. ‘His leadership and counsel will also benefit clients and bankers in our cleantech and consumer/internet/media practices. I wish John the best in his expanded role.’

Prior to joining Merriman in August 2008, Chambers was co-head of investment banking at Rodman & Renshaw. He has also held senior-level healthcare and biotechnology banking positions at SG Cowen, Lehman Brothers, UBS and Salomon Smith Barney.

Chambers has executed a significant number of financing, strategic and restructuring transactions for clients that span across all healthcare sectors and numerous emerging-growth industries.

Chambers is based out of the firm’s New York office.
