A new qualification, the Certificate in Finance and Technology (CFT), has launched as the first and only global qualification designed specifically for technologists in financial institutions.
The CFT is unique in giving technology professionals in financial services organisations a genuine understanding of the business context in which they operate. By bridging the gap between the worlds of finance and technology, the CFT helps financial institutions to maximise the value of their technology teams, as well as helping candidates advance their careers.
Rob Woods (pictured), co-founder of the CFT, says: “The gap in understanding between financial services and technology specialists presents major risk to institutions. The CFT will help close that gap. Building the financial business understanding of technologists will both de-risk existing business-critical and costly technology projects, as well as opening up opportunities for more meaningful future innovation.”
Designed by experienced professionals all around the world and with 11 exam centres spread across three continents, the CFT is a truly global qualification. Its trainers have a combined total of 108 years’ experience delivering training at major banks including JP Morgan and HSBC and have worked for institutions such as Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse and UBS.
Sanjay Bhandari, CFT co-founder, says: “The CFT modules cover a range of topics including software engineering, cryptocurrency, equities and derivatives, giving candidates everything they need to excel in their day-to-day jobs and keep up to date with the latest advances in technology. All elements were designed by expert trainers from the worlds of finance, management and technology – based in locations as diverse as the UK, US, Dubai and Canada.”
The CFT program is a comprehensive course designed for flexible learning and is divided into three levels, to be completed in order. Exams are held every six months in 11 cities around the world, including London, New York and Delhi. The first exam for Level One candidates is due to be held on 21 March 2016.
