Let’s hear it for the service providers as we publish our Special Report from the 2025 Institutional Asset Manager Service Provider Awards. Many congratulations to all our winners but take a look at the report here.
And read our interview with Tanya Bartolini, Co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer at Jacobi, who says that Jacobi Strategies isn’t just another portfolio management tool – it sits above and across traditional bottom-up systems to support top-down, multi-asset portfolio design and management. We also have a podcast with Curtis Evans of Jacobi Strategies who discusses how the firm works with model portfolios. Listen here.
We also feature Keith Viverito, Managing Director EMEA, at Clearwater Analytics (CWAN), whose firm won three awards. Viverito celebrates ‘operational intelligence’. He says: “We believe the future favours institutions that recognise operational excellence as a key pillar for growth, turning operational efficiency into competitive advantage, regulatory burden into strategic insight, and technology investment into measurable client value.”
Finally, Elston Consulting won Best Investment Consultant with Henry Cobbe, head of research explaining that the firm that he founded in 2012 designs multi-asset investment strategies for delivery in a number of formats, covering portfolio (via Elston Portfolio Management), funds and indices. Cobbe says that a friend described his firm to be like Coca Cola in that it does the design and the secret sauce but not always the bottling or manufacturing.
Our editor, Gill Wadsworth, turned to gold again this week and very timely she was too with the gold price soaring through USD4800 on a headlong rush to USD5000 at the time of writing. Chris Beauchamp, Chief Market Analyst UK at investing and trading platform IG, commented: “Gold prices have clocked up six new record highs so far this year, demonstrating that it is often futile to call tops even in the most frenetic of rallies.”
Wadsworth talks to Nitesh Shah, Head of Commodities and Macroeconomic Research at WisdomTree Europe who details the drivers behind the steady rise in the gold price. Research from WisdomTree shows a clear correlation between reports of geopolitical unrest in the global media and a rise in gold prices.
It’s been quite the start to the year and we haven’t made it through January yet!
