NN IP hires new head of emerging market debt

RELATED TOPICS

NN Investment Partners has appointed Marcin Adamczyk as head of Emerging Market Debt (EMD), as of 1 July 2020. In this role, Adamczyk will be responsible for overseeing the Emerging Market Debt team and will focus on the execution of client-led strategy, by further strengthening the team and enhancing client-focused solutions.

He will replace Edith Siermann, head of Fixed Income and Responsible Investing at NN IP, who has held the role of head of EMD ad interim since November 2019. Adamczyk will report to Siermann and will be based in head office in The Hague, while actively overseeing the global EMD team.

Adamczyk will lead NN IP’s EMD team to further strengthen the capability, which is fully aligned with our company’s strategy, ambitions and values. NN IP believes his extensive experience and insight in the field of emerging markets, along with a deep understanding and connection to NN IP, its clients, culture and values, will be invaluable as the firm continues to expand its EMD business.

He brings over 20 years of broad experience in investing in Emerging Markets and has held senior leadership roles. Adamczyk joins NN IP from PZU Group, where he was CEO of its asset management unit TFI PZU and later acted as advisor to the board of the group. Prior to this, he worked in several senior leadership roles at, amongst others, Nomura International Group in London, Lombard Odier Investment Managers in Amsterdam and Geneva, and leading Dutch pension and fiduciary manager MN Services. Adamczyk previously worked at NN IP between 2013 and 2017, in the role of lead portfolio manager EMD Local Currency. The current appointment marks his return to the organisation.

Adamczyk is graduate of the Cracow University of Economics, Faculty of Economics, the Warsaw School of Economics, and Ernst & Young Academy of Business’ Executive Studies in Finance postgraduate programme.

Siermann, head of Fixed Income and Responsible Investing at NN IP, says: “Emerging Market Debt has been a cornerstone of NN IP’s business for 27 years and Marcin’s appointment further solidifies our commitment to the EMD capability going forward. His track record, deep knowledge and experience in EMD, combined with his leadership skills, make him the right candidate for the role as head of EMD. His personality and strong belief in a team approach fit well with our EMD team, which values strong collaboration across investment centres around the world. Marcin fully supports the strategic direction of NN IP and will further enhance the approach to responsible investing in our EMD capabilities.”

Adamczyk adds: “While the challenges that financial markets and our clients are facing keep on changing, NN IP’s commitment to its clients, its values, investment performance and employees is timeless. I’m looking forward to reconnecting with the organisation and its people to build on the existing EMD business and to lead the team through these challenging market circumstances. Furthermore, I’m looking forward to further strengthen our client-focused solutions and stand ready for future opportunities in the emerging market asset class.”

Since January 2020, NN IP has been strengthening its EMD Hard Currency Sovereign team by appointing Keith Davies and Patrick Wacker as senior Portfolio Managers in February and March, based in Singapore and New York respectively. Additionally, Martijn Kleiberg, based in London, was appointed as a senior Portfolio Manager in the EM corporates team as of February 2020. Alexander Sychev and Girish Patil, both based in The Hague, will fulfil the role of corporate credit analysts as of 1 June 2020 and 15 June 2020 respectively, both covering the CEEMEA region. Luis Serrano will join NN IP’s EMD team as Credit Analyst on 6 July 2020 and will be based in New York, where he will cover the Latin American region of EM Corporates. NN IP’s EMD team currently manages USD10.8 billion of assets (as per end of March, 2020).
