Northern Trust has appointed Belinda Burgess as head of the Nordic region. Burgess, who is based in Stockholm, replaces Madeleine Senior who has been appointed as head of sales for Northern Trust’s asset servicing business in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

In her new role, Burgess is responsible for managing the growth and development of Northern Trust’s business activities across Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark. She reports to Penelope Biggs, head of the Institutional Investor Group for EMEA, and will work closely with John Krieg, managing director of Northern Trust’s asset management business in EMEA.

Burgess joined Northern Trust in 2005 and was most recently a senior executive within Northern Trust’s Global Fund Services business, where she was responsible for client service for global asset managers, insurance funds and in-house managed pension schemes. Burgess has more than 20 years of industry experience, working across a wide range of operational, transition management and client facing roles.

"Northern Trust works with some of the most sophisticated asset owners and investment managers in the Nordics," said Penelope Biggs, head of Northern Trust’s Institutional Investor Group (IIG) in EMEA. "Belinda has extensive business experience and will support the Nordic team as they deliver first class asset servicing and asset management solutions to meet our clients’ unique regional requirements."

Madeleine Senior was appointed to lead Northern Trust’s development in the Nordic region when it opened a branch office in Stockholm, in September 2009. In 2011, the office extended its asset servicing offering to include asset management products and services for clients across the region. In her new role, she will report to Wilson Leech, CEO for Northern Trust in EMEA.

"Madeleine has made an outstanding contribution to the establishment of our Nordic office and expanding the delivery of our products and services across the region over the past nine years," says Leech. "She understands the key challenges faced by institutional investors and fund managers and we are pleased to leverage Madeleine’s expertise to manage asset servicing sales teams across EMEA, in London."
