Ocorian, a specialist in corporate and fiduciary services, fund administration and capital markets, has appointed Kareem Robinson as Client Director – Capital Markets in the Cayman Islands.

Robinson is an experienced offshore financial services professional with over 20 years of technical and managerial experience in structured and asset finance, trust and company administration, alternative investments and regulatory compliance and oversight. He also has significant regulatory experience and has previously held the position of Deputy Head of the Securities Supervision Division at the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA).

Jason Gerlis, Regional Head of Americas, says: “We are delighted to welcome Kareem who is a valuable addition to our team. He oversees our Cayman Islands structured finance team and is focused on ensuring service excellence, accelerating growth, and finding proactive solutions to help our clients maximise their business and investment performance.”

Robinson has held senior capital markets roles throughout his career and brings to his role with Ocorian extensive practical experience managing – throughout the life of the deal – complex portfolios of special purpose vehicles and corporate trust structures consisting of collateralised loan and debt obligations (cash, synthetic, hybrid, managed and static), securitisations (asset back securities), note programmes (loan funded), share trustee, unit trusts, hedge and private equity funds and asset finance structures (sale and leaseback) for on and off-balance sheet transactions.

In his roles at CIMA, Robinson had direct responsibility and oversight of both the off-site and on-site monitoring processes of the Securities Supervision Division and was involved in several key regulatory initiatives. He has a lucid understanding of the Cayman Islands regulatory framework and AML/CFT regime.

Robinson adds: “Ocorian’s exciting and ambitious expansion plans for future growth means this is a tremendous time to join the business.”

“Making sure we continue to enhance our proactive client service delivery and develop and retain key talent are priorities for me. I am already enjoying working with Jason and the whole Ocorian team, locally and globally, as we pursue our exciting growth strategy.”

Kareem is sought out for his expertise and counsel and have co-authored numerous articles for publication, in addition to participating in panel discussions at regulatory and capital markets conferences and roundtables.

Kareem is a CIMA Registered Director and is also a Member of the Cayman Islands Directors Association (CIDA).
