Old Mutual Asset Management (OMAM), the US-based global asset management business of Old Mutual plc, has named William Tsotsos as senior vice president and head of Canada to lead the organisation’s marketing efforts in the Canadian institutional marketplace.

In his new role, Tsotsos will focus on introducing the diverse investment capabilities of OMAM’s nine affiliate firms to institutional investors through the plan sponsor, consultant and sub-advisory channels.

OMAM’s affiliates specialise in a wide range of investment strategies including: US growth and value equity products; global, international, emerging market equity and fixed income solutions; and a number of alternative investments.

These strategies are offered through boutique asset managers including: Acadian Asset Management, Barrow Hanley Mewhinney & Strauss, The Campbell Group, Copper Rock Capital Partners, Echo Point Investment Management, Heitman LLC, Investment Counselors of Maryland, Rogge Global Partners and Thompson, Siegel & Walmsley.

"Bill’s long-term industry experience and deep relationships with institutional investors across the Canadian marketplace will provide our affiliates with meaningful growth opportunities in Canada," says Brian Carroll, head of North American distribution for OMAM. "Adding Bill to the team of seasoned marketing professionals is an important step in the strategy to expand Old Mutual’s centralised distribution efforts in key regions around the globe."

Tsotsos joins Old Mutual Asset Management International after five years as a managing director at Baring Asset Management, where he served as senior relationship director responsible for business development, consultant relations and client service in Canada and the US. Prior to that, he was director of institutional sales at Scotia Cassels Investment Management. Tsotsos has also held senior sales and client service positions at PIMCO Canada and Standard Life Investments.
