The Pension SuperFund (PSF) has appointed James Pearce as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with effect from 21 September 2020.
Pearce is a Chartered Accountant and vastly experienced financial executive with a keen focus on capital markets. He joins from Just Group plc, where he was Director of Group Finance, and was responsible for financial reporting, tax, corporate finance, investor relations and strategy. Prior to this, Pearce was a number one ranked sell-side insurance analyst, latterly as head of European insurance research and managing director at both JP Morgan Cazenove and UBS.
News of Pearce’s appointment comes shortly after Pensions Minister, Guy Opperman, said that he and the Department for Work and Pensions were “massive supporters” of superfunds adding that: “A lot of schemes are very interested, and members will potentially get a better return using these superfunds.” Opperman labelled ‘the greenlighting of superfunds’ as his proudest accomplishment of the pandemic.
Luke Webster, co-founder and CEO of The Pension SuperFund, says: “We are delighted to welcome James to The Pension SuperFund as CFO. His track record speaks for itself, and this appointment further builds out our senior management structure, with a focus on ensuring efficiency and value for money for pension fund members and capital providers alike.”
James Pearce, CFO of The Pension SuperFund, says: “Joining the Pension SuperFund team is a hugely exciting opportunity. I expect to help the team play a leading role in a market which is hungry for the benefits of DB pension scheme consolidation. I look forward to working with my new colleagues, sponsors, trustees, advisers and the regulator to ensure that pension fund members enjoy a safer and brighter future under the careful stewardship of The Pension SuperFund.”
