PrivateBank names David Harwell as a managing director

PrivateBancorp has named David E. Harwell managing director of commercial banking for The PrivateBank in Norcross, Georgia, responsible for business development, client management and further expansion of the bank’s commercial presence in Georgia.

Additionally, Michael T. Hopton has joined The PrivateBank as associate managing director, commercial banking in the Alpharetta, Georgia office.

Harwell has been with The PrivateBank for seven years and has over 14 years of experience in financial services. He served as a credit manager with the former Norwest Financial, now Wells Fargo, and as an independent small business banker with former First Union National Bank, now Wells Fargo.

Hopton is responsible for business development, client management and further expansion of the bank’s commercial and industrial lending presence in Georgia. He joins The PrivateBank from Georgian Bank, now First Citizens, where he was a senior vice president and commercial banker. He has nearly 15 years of experience in financial services, including working at the former Wachovia Bank, now Wells Fargo, in the treasury services division, and Merrill Lynch as a business financial adviser.
