Financial research firm Rayner Spencer Mills has added Ignis European Smaller Companies to its Rated Fund list, one of only two funds to achieve a rating in the IMA European Smaller Companies sector.
The Ignis European Smaller Companies Fund, managed by Ian Ormiston, was the top ranked vehicle in the IMA European Smaller Companies sector during 2013, returning 48.3 per cent against an average rise of 30.8 per cent1.
Ormiston’s fund is also top ranked over five years, delivering a 153.6 per cent return, versus a sector average of 128.1 per cent, according to Lipper.
Rayner Spencer Mills says the fund has benefitted from the strong stock picking skills of Ormiston, especially among some of the smaller capitalised names in the investment universe.
“The fund has established a strong record in its universe. The focus on under researched names means the fund is able to find companies with significant upside, as at the time of the investment they are not well known by the market,” says Rayner Spencer Mills. “The strong stock picking skills of the manager, combined with the ability to exploit under researched investment opportunities with significant target price upside, make the fund a useful satellite addition to investor portfolios.”
