RBS hires Gudrun Göbel as COO of its Luxembourg management company

The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has appointed Gudrun Göbel as chief operating officer of RBS (Luxembourg), its Luxembourg-domiciled independent management company and fund governance business.

She reports directly to Revel Wood, chief executive officer of RBS (Luxembourg) SA, and is responsible for the management company’s risk and operational oversight teams, as well as its standalone fund governance, risk and compliance monitoring services.

Her appointment follows a number of recent key hires to the management team of RBS (Luxembourg), including the head of risk and compliance Slim Hamrouni, and the head of central administration and distribution oversight Ross Thomson.

“It is an exciting moment to be joining the management team at a time that RBS (Luxembourg) SA has been hiring senior industry professionals, as a result of increased demand for its independent governance services from large UK and international investment funds and their managers,” says Göbel.

Wood says: “We are delighted to welcome Gudrun to the management team. She brings with her a wealth of distribution experience and knowledge of the latest regulatory developments for the cross-border funds’ industry.  Her significant contribution to the development of the Luxembourg funds’ industry will complement our other recent senior hires and significant investment in our fund governance systems.”

Göbel joins RBS (Luxembourg) from European Fund Services (EFS), the fund distribution subsidiary of Société Générale in Luxembourg, where she was chief operating officer for fund processing services.
