Schroders’ property business in Germany has appointed Buddy Roes as head of logistics fund management.

Roes will also become the fund manager for the Schroder European Logistics Fund taking over from Robbert Bergmann who is based in Amsterdam. Bergmann remains with the business to concentrate on other fund management activities and will remain on the management board of the logistics fund.

As a Luxembourg FCP, the fund has a gross asset value of EUR600m and 25 assets across six European countries (at 31 March 2009).

Roes will join Schroders on 1 June and will be based in the company’s Wiesbaden office.

Roes has 19 years investment experience. He ran the European logistics funds for ING between 2002 and 2006. He was active in the French, German, Italian and Spanish property investment markets before establishing the German office for ING from 2006 onwards.

Roes will report to Neil Turner as part of the property fund management team.

Turner, head of property fund management at Schroder Property, says: ‘Logistics is a key part of our investment business with just under 9.7 million sq ft (900,000 sq m) of accommodation under management. The appointment of Buddy extends our capabilities in this area as well as continuing to build our fund management team in Germany. This is a key strategic initiative of the business which operates out of eight continental European offices.’
