Schroders launches Flight Path for DB schemes

RELATED TOPICS

Schroders has launched a service called Flight Path which aims to revolutionise the way closed ended defined benefit schemes are managed.

The service puts in place building blocks that will assist clients, over time, to become fully self-sufficient.

This means de-risking schemes as and when market opportunities occur.

Flight Path will aim to lock in long-term asset gains and with liabilities it will look to increase protection when market levels are suitable.

Flight Path allows trustees to remain totally in control of key decisions, within a framework that allows for more efficient implementation.

Mark Humphreys, head of UK strategic solutions at Schroders, says: “Closed DB schemes are often over-reliant on the ongoing support of sponsors. They can’t respond to changing circumstances quickly enough to sufficiently de-risk their portfolios. Flight Path is able to manage this process through our specialist team of actuaries and investors who have the skills to design the strategies and implement this through market leading architecture. We believe that our Flight Path approach is the start to the final chapter of the DB pension fund story.”
