SEB appoints Hermes for stewardship services

RELATED TOPICS

Hermes Investment Management’s engagement team, Hermes EOS, has been appointed by SEB Investment Management to provide engagement and screening services.

SEB Investment Management is part of SEB, the Stockholm-based corporate bank.

With over EUR100 billion in assets under management, SEB Investment Management is one of the largest commercial asset managers in Scandinavia, managing equity, fixed income and balanced mutual funds for its clients.

Hermes EOS will advise on EUR33.15 billion of holdings comprising SEB’s global holdings outside the Nordic region.

Emma Hunt, co-head of Hermes EOS, says: “SEB Investment Management recognises that companies with informed and involved shareholders are more likely to achieve superior long-term performance than those without. With our dedicated team of voting and engagement specialists and our extensive programme of international engagement, we will help SEB to build on their existing stewardship work. This appointment further deepens Hermes EOS’ presence in Scandinavia.”

Hans Ek, head of ESG and corporate governance at SEB Investment Management, says: “By joining forces with Hermes EOS, we are strengthening our sustainability dialogues with companies outside Scandinavia. We estimate that we’ll be able to double our number of dialogues with companies to 360, and with the good progress rate Hermes has on their engagements, this will help us create value both for the companies and our clients.”
