S&P Capital IQ Fund Research assigns Gold gradings to Plato Institutional Index Funds

RELATED TOPICS

S&P Capital IQ Fund Research has assigned Gold fund gradings to three Plato Institutional Index funds run by KBC Asset Management.

Belgium-domiciled Plato Institutional Index Fund Euro Equity, Plato Institutional Index Fund North American Equity and Plato Institutional Index Fund European Equity are among the first funds to be graded using S&P Capital IQ Fund Research’s new passive fund grading methodology which treats passive funds as a separate asset class.

The three index funds aim to fully replicate the indices they track. Cash holdings are no more than +/-0.5 per cent, and the funds do not pay dividends to their investors.

The funds also receive income from stock lending, which is conducted with an exclusive lending agent.

The five-strong quantitative team is headed by Emmanuel Wildiers. They are supported by the KBC’s risk management team and the equity traders.

Both the North American Equity fund and the European Equity fund have performed close to index over three and five years cumulatively, while the Euro Equity fund has outperformed the index after fees (primarily due to stock lending and dividend advantages) in every recent calendar year.

“The consistent performance and low tracking errors of the funds allow them to achieve Gold gradings,” says Kate Hollis, S&P Capital IQ fund analyst.

We are delighted with the S&P Capital IQ Gold gradings, and see them as the recognition of a very disciplined and state-of-the-art management and monitoring process which, together with a continuous development of operational efficiency improvements and performance enhancing techniques, allow the funds to stay aligned with their low tracking error and high performance objectives,” adds Emmanuel Wildiers of KBC Asset Management.
