Standard & Poor’s has announced two senior appointments aimed at leading the expansion of Standard & Poor’s Fund Services, a provider of qualitative fund management ratings.

Mark Hoven has been appointed global head of sales, marketing and business development, and Kerry Outlaw takes up the post of global head of analytics and operations, both based in London.

They have joined with a remit to integrate the currently separate European and Australian fund research businesses, and beyond that, expand into new markets such as Asia and North America in order to create a global business covering fund ratings, research and advisory.

Hoven currently heads up Standard & Poor’s Fund Services in Australia, and has been with Standard & Poor’s since 2001, when he joined as head of Pacific market development.

Outlaw has strong operational management skills, following a career at Credit Suisse and more recently as head of her own change management and operational risk consultancy for financial services firms.

Larry Neal, executive managing director, Standard & Poor’s, says: "Mark Hoven and Kerry Outlaw’s depth of skills and experience will be vital in leading the integration of our successful European and Australian fund businesses and managing our global expansion. We want to transform Standard & Poor’s Fund Services into a globally-integrated business, operating under a consistent business model, and using a consistent rating philosophy, methodology and rating scale.

"Our clients think on a global basis and we need to develop our business to respond to these needs. We see significant long-term opportunities in the global wealth management sector, covering areas such as fund research and advisory services, including asset allocation, portfolio construction and fund manager selection.’
