State Street Global Advisors has appointed Marc Reinganum as head of its active developed market equities team.

Based in Boston, Reinganum is responsible for all aspects of active management within the global developed market equity portfolios, and reports to Arlene Rockefeller, chief investment officer for global equities.

Reinganum joins SSgA from Oppenheimer Funds, where he was a senior portfolio manager and director of quantitative research leading the research and investment technology teams and spearheading the portfolio strategy function.

"Marc brings a unique combination of investment management skills and academic research credentials to this demanding and important role," says Rockefeller. "His strong track record of investment performance, his background in quantitative investing and experience in developing dynamic investment models, will add significant breadth and depth to our global equity team."

Reinganum is a board member of the Institute of Quantitative Research in Finance (Q-Group), a group dedicated to the development and understanding of new quantitative techniques.

He has served as an endowed chair in Financial Investments at Southern Methodist University, and as director of the Financial Markets Institute and professor of Finance at the University of Iowa.

"Clients are increasingly demanding higher alpha strategies that are needed to deliver growth," says Reinganum. "At SSgA, we are focused on providing solutions to our clients and as such, we continually evolve our investment capabilities to keep pace with market developments. My team and I will continue to collaborate with SSgA’s Advanced Research Center to identify and utilise new alpha sources and continuously enhance our proprietary models."
