State Street Corporation has appointed James Reilly as global head of Currenex, a technology provider offering the FX community high-performance technology and access to deep pools of liquidity for anonymous and disclosed trade execution.

Reilly will focus on expanding the business and creating new partnerships. Additionally, Stephen Dispenza has been promoted to global head of sales for Currenex, reporting to Reilly. Dispenza previously served as North American head of sales for the platform.

Reilly joins State Street from Cantor Fitzgerald, where he was most recently global head of Foreign Exchange Sales and Trading. He reports to David Newns, who assumes a newly-created role as global head of GlobalLink Execution Services.

State Street also announced that Beverley Doherty has been appointed global head of FX Connect, an FX execution venue that helps firms efficiently manage multiple portfolios, connect with brokers and streamline global operations. Doherty was most recently the chief operating officer and North American head for GlobalLink, State Street’s suite of e-trading platforms, technology, data and workflow solutions. Prior to that she held various roles in Currenex including Business Development and corporate sales. Doherty will also report to Newns.

“I’m very pleased to welcome James to our team as well as announce the promotions of David, Stephen and Beverley,” says Martine Bond, head of GlobalLink. “David’s expanded role will allow him to focus on leveraging technology across platforms and creating synergies in GlobalLink’s core execution and trading platforms, and will help us better meet our clients challenges in the FX industry. I’m also excited to have James on board as his reputation as a leader and innovator gives me great confidence in his ability to bring our business to the next level.”
